Cow’s milk protein allergy
Clear, evidence-based information on the identification and management of cow’s milk protein allergy in infants and young children.
Complementary Feeding (Feeding in the First Year of Life)
An update on the evidence base around complementary feeding and good nutrition in the first year of life. The session supports key messages of the Public Health Wales 10 steps to a Healthy Weight Obesity prevention programme. The workshop covers feeding Vegan infants, premature infants, those with a diagnosed cow’s milk protein allergy and babies with developmental delay.
Faddy Eating vs Functional Feeding Difficulties
An update on the assessment and management of ‘faddy’ eating in young children including when to refer on to Dietetics/SLT or Joint Feeding clinic.
Infant Formula Milks in the UK and Specialist Formula Milks
Impartial, evidence-based information on infant formula milks available in the UK including specialist milks and their clinical indications. The session will support Health Professionals to provide clear and accurate advice to families using these products.
Early Years Nutrition and Healthy Weight
An update on the key nutrition messages for young children and Eatwell Guide messages for the whole family. This practical session will look at ways to support families with a child who is above a healthy weight and when to refer to the Paediatric Dietetics Service. The workshop will include a refresher on using growth charts to monitor healthy growth in the early years.
Talking with Families about Weight
This workshop will take aspects of the MI approach to support you with raising the topic of weight with families and having conversations about change. Although focussing on children’s weight and childhood obesity, the skills will be transferable to many other areas of practice.
Infant ‘Feeding’ Related Issues
Practical, evidence-based workshop looking at issues in infancy such as constipation, colic, faltering growth and reflux that may or may not be related to feeding.
Eating for 1, Healthy and Active for 2
Information and resources on the latest-based guidance for nutrition, physical activity and weight management in pregnancy. The session will include vitamin recommendations and raising the topic of weight.
